We're confused . . .

Writers find stories in questions . . . Ever wonder why? Questions require answers and answers are always dipped in truth . . . Yours mine and everyone else’s.

What is a role model? Why is being famous considered as a symbol for being a role model? Would Jesus be a role model without walking on water, without dying on the cross?

We’re confused. We’re not sure what we value. If we value money are role models become those that have a lot of it. If we value athletic prowess than those that achieve greatness become our heroes . . . And so why do we get upset when we find out our heroes aren’t the good people we thought they were?

Wait a minute, when did they achieve stardom for being good? A very few ever did . . . So to be famous you have to be a good person. But to be a great football player you have to be a great fighter, don’t you?

The confusion isn’t in our heroes. It’s in knowing ourselves and we don’t. We don’t know what our values by name. We don’t know those we want to be, those we are. Too much wasted time and not enough thought . . .

Why is it important? If we knew we valued goodness, maybe our heroes wouldn’t be Michael Vick, but Mother Theresa, Gandhi or the Dally Lama or someone who strives to be good?

And then when they let us down for not being good, then we would have something to be upset about . . .
