Why did Russia's Putin back down so easily

I want to know just one thing, why? Russia’s Putin was adamantly against having a missile shield in Europe. And then he met with Bush and he was offering sites. Why?

I can only surmise and each would most likely be wrong . . . So I won’t, but just let me say it’s deeper than any of us think. Just an observation, when some one isn’t afraid of ratings maybe he knows something we don’t . . . One more point, all the money we spent on the war, seems way too high???

I Wonder . . .
